About This Webinar
We were honored to present this webinar at the 2020 European Biobanking Week (EBW) conference. It covers the basics of cryogenic identification requirements for biobanks and biorepositories. It also highlights the current selection of cryo label solutions on the market and introduces some of our breakthrough products.
The webinar covers topics relating to relabeling vials, such as legacy vials, identification options for automated 2D sample storage tubes, as well as the emergence of RFID. It should provide a better understanding of how to accurately and securely label your samples in a manner that will also allow them to be tracked throughout the biobanking process, from reception to storage, and finally retrieval.
All labels discussed in the webinar are tested to withstand long-term storage in liquid nitrogen (-196°C) unless specified otherwise (at -80°C).
Why Cryogenic Labels are Vital for Biobanks
Biobanks and biorepositories must store various biological specimen under cryogenic conditions, often for extended periods. These samples must be clearly identified so that they can be easily tracked and retrieved when needed. However, storage in liquid nitrogen and ultra-low temperature freezers can adversely affect the labels used to identify those specimens. As such, it’s essential that you choose cryo labels made specifically for the environments they are expected to encounter, including cryogenic conditions, harsh chemicals, and abrasion.
