Compared with traditional cell lines, primary cells derived from non-human primates (NHP) more closely resemble human tissues in terms of structural organization, functional characteristics, and molecular regulation and are widely regarded as an important tool for bridging basic research and clinical translation. In response to this growing need, Creative Biolabs has recently expanded its cynomolgus monkey primary cell product line, covering key research areas such as the urinary and digestive systems.
In the field of urological research, Creative Biolabs has launched Cynomolgus Monkey primary bladder smooth muscle cells. These cells are directly isolated from the bladder tissues of healthy cynomolgus monkeys and retain characteristic smooth muscle morphology and function-related markers. They are suitable for studies on bladder dysfunction, smooth muscle contraction regulation, and drug safety assessment. Compared with immortalized cell lines, these primary cells have clear advantages in reflecting the physiologically tissue response and are particularly valuable for mechanism studies and drug efficacy evaluation.
For digestive system research, Creative Biolabs also offers two key types of Cynomolgus Monkey primary cell models. One is primary intestinal fibroblasts, which play a core role in maintaining the structural integrity of the intestine, extracellular matrix remodeling, and inflammatory response regulation. These cells are widely applicable in studies related to intestinal inflammation, fibrosis, and tissue repair. The other is primary small intestinal epithelial cells, which, as the main cell type constituting the intestinal barrier, are indispensable for research on nutrient absorption, barrier function, and host-microbiota interactions.
According to a relevant technical expert from Creative Biolabs, all Cynomolgus Monkey primary cells are prepared using standardized isolation and culture processes and are subjected to strict quality control, including cell morphology assessment, viability testing, and batch-to-batch consistency verification. This ensures reliable stability and reproducibility across different lots.
“For research projects that rely on relevant models, the source and quality of cells often directly determine the reliability of experimental outcomes. We hope to provide researchers with a more in vivo-like experimental starting point through our systematic NHP primary cell products,” the expert said.
From a biobanking perspective, multi-tissue and multi-type NHP primary cell resources also provide important support for sample diversity and long-term research. Creative Biolabs, through systematic layout of Cynomolgus Monkey primary bladder, intestinal, and epithelial cell resources, offers researchers and biobanks more physiologically relevant options.
About the Author
Creative Biolabs supports laboratory NHP preclinical studies with a wide array of biological products, including whole blood, serum, plasma, primary cells, tissue, body fluids, and recombinant reagents. As a specialized contract research organization, we offer diverse NHP disease models, providing biologicals from diseased primates. Recognizing the complexity and sensitivity of NHPs in biomedical research, we have developed specialized infrastructure and care to maintain their well-being. Despite the controversy surrounding NHP use, we ensure a steady supply and high-quality service to meet the urgent needs of biomedical research through our dedicated monitoring and evaluation platform.
