The new video Global Biobanking Awareness by International Society for Biological and Enviromental Repositories (ISBER) highlights biobanking as a foundational capability for modern science—often operating behind the scenes, yet enabling measurable impact across human health, environmental stewardship, biodiversity, conservation, and food security.
By illustrating how biological materials and associated data are collected, preserved, managed, and shared to support research and innovation, the video helps public audiences, funders, stakeholders, and governments better understand why biobanks are essential infrastructure for both today’s breakthroughs and long-term resilience.
This initiative features contributions from both ISBER and non-ISBER members, reflecting the cross-sector collaboration that defines the biobanking community. We also recognize the leadership and vision of Dr. Cass Griffin and Deb Garcia, whose efforts were instrumental in bringing the project to life.
