- Growth Milestone: This marks the first tuck-in acquisition for ABS Bio since receiving investment from 3 Boomerang Capital in June 2024.
Analytical Biological Services, Inc. (ABS Bio), a portfolio company of 3 Boomerang Capital, has acquired Cureline, Inc., a long-established provider of biospecimen procurement and histology services for the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. The transaction represents ABS Bio’s first tuck-in acquisition following 3 Boomerang Capital’s original investment in the company in June 2024.
The acquisition brings together two complementary organizations serving global pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers with increasingly complex research and therapeutic development needs. By integrating Cureline’s capabilities, ABS Bio aims to broaden access to high-quality biospecimens while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and customer experience.
Expanding Scientific and Service Capabilities
Founded in 2003 by Olga Potapova, PhD, Cureline has supported leading biopharmaceutical companies for more than two decades. Headquartered in South San Francisco, California, the company operates a state-of-the-art facility offering biospecimen procurement and analysis, histology, digital pathology, and related research services.
According to Ehab Alramahy, CEO of ABS Bio, the acquisition significantly strengthens the company’s technical depth and capacity. He noted that combining Cureline’s expertise with ABS Bio’s existing platform will help ensure broader biospecimen access and consistent execution from initial request through delivery.
Strengthening ABS Bio’s Market Position
The addition of Cureline is expected to reinforce ABS Bio’s position as a premier partner in specimen procurement, cell culture, and histology. The expanded platform is designed to support pharmaceutical and biotech customers as they navigate more sophisticated therapeutic programs and sourcing requirements across regions.
By scaling its service offerings and operational footprint, ABS Bio aims to better serve clients seeking integrated, reliable solutions across the research and drug development lifecycle.
A Complementary Partnership
Cureline Founder Olga Potapova, PhD, emphasized the strategic alignment between the two companies, citing shared values around scientific excellence, collaboration, and long-term research partnerships. She highlighted that the combined organization will offer a broader biospecimen network, deeper services expertise, and enhanced biorepository capabilities.
With this acquisition, ABS Bio continues to build a more comprehensive platform to support translational research and drug discovery for the global life sciences community.
