Just Inc Automates Their Plant Analysis Workflow Using Micronic Labware

The food technology company Just, Inc has chosen Micronic labware for sample handling and storage.

Just, Inc, which was founded in 2011, is a food technology company with a mission to build a food system where everyone has access to delicious, nutritious food and is located in San Francisco, California, USA. Micronic is an independent organization with its headquarters located in Lelystad, the Netherlands. Micronic produces and assembles its labware in certified Class 7 clean rooms which are located in the Netherlands and the United States. This fact prompted Just, inc, which counts computational biologists from Stanford, food engineers from Kraft and Campbell’s, chefs from Michelin-star restaurants as well as ex-staffers from Apple and General Electric amongst its ranks, to start investigating the remaining 300,000+ plants.

The company collects and processes plant samples with cutting-edge automated systems and robotic platforms. This necessitates an exceptional sample storage workflow for the plant specimens.

The 2D Data-Matrix code on the bottom of Micronic tubes enables Just, inc, to integrate and manage protein samples in a laboratory information management system (LIMS). This allows Just, inc, scientists to manage and track each individual protein candidate throughout the entire workflow.

Each tube is capped with Low Profile Screw Caps to save freezer space and to allow the Discovery platform to automatically cap and decap tubes. This successful integration of Micronic labware enables Just, inc, to perform consistent, accurate and fast analyses of their samples.
