The Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) Biobank is a centralized facility dedicated to the systematic collection, processing, storage, and distribution of high-quality human biological samples and associated clinical data. Established to support cutting-edge research and healthcare innovation, the biobank operates in alignment with international best practices and ethical guidelines.
With state-of-the-art infrastructure, including multiple –80°C freezers and liquid nitrogen (LN₂) storage systems, the IHHN Biobank ensures the long-term preservation of biospecimens such as blood, plasma, serum, DNA, RNA, microbial isolates, and tissue samples. All biospecimens are pseudonymized, traceable through a Laboratory Information System (LIS), and stored under controlled conditions to maintain integrity and reproducibility for downstream research applications.
The Biobank plays a critical role in advancing translational research, particularly in cancer, infectious diseases, and microbial biobanking, while also contributing to global collaborative networks. As a member of BCNet and aligned with CAP and ISBER guidelines, IHHN Biobank emphasizes quality assurance, ethical compliance, and equitable access to resources for the scientific community.
By bridging clinical care and biomedical research, the IHHN Biobank contributes to the development of improved diagnostics, therapeutics, and public health strategies, in line with IHHN’s mission to provide free, quality healthcare to all without discrimination.
