The Polish BioBanking Center (PBBC) was created to store tumor samples necessary for genomic cancer diagnostics. It gives patients a chance for better diagnostics and personalized cancer treatment. PBBC also provides scientists with access to biological samples for research and clinical trials.
Tumor storing and preservation in PBBC does not involve any additional burden for the patient. Tumor sample for biobanking is taken during a planned surgical procedure: a biopsy or surgical removal of a tumor. The collected frozen tumor tissue is stored under appropriate conditions without chemical conservation with formalin. Each tumor sample is accompanied by a peripheral blood sample from the same donor. PBBC has also an additional collection of 1500 blood samples (with extracted full genomic data) of COVID-19 patients.
The PBBC cooperates with leading health care units, provides comprehensive logistics services for BioBanking process, training of medical personnel and substantive support during the implementation of clinical and scientific research. The PBBC is a part MNM Diagnostics Inc., which provides genomic diagnostics service since 2018 and develops modern, advanced diagnostic tools for the personalized genome analysis of cancer patients.
The Polish BioBanking Center is certified with international standard ISO/IEC 9001:2015 and operates in accordance with the standards of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of May 22, 2013. The PBCC has implemented, unified management system for biological material and related clinical data, which improves the quality of future scientific research.
