BC Platforms, founded in 1997 from an MIT Whitehead project spinoff, is in the business of powerful genomic data management and analysis solutions. The company has global operations with its headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, research and development in Helsinki, Finland, and sales and marketing in London, Boston, and Vancouver.
The platform enables data integration flexibility, as well as secure analysis and interpretation of molecular and clinical information. The company operates a global network of biobanks known as BCRQUEST.COM, which provides genomic and clinical cohort data for pharmaceutical and medical research and development. By 2020 the company aims to have built the world’s leading analytics platform for healthcare and industry that provides access to diverse genomic and clinical data and samples from more than 5 million subjects aggregated from a global network of biobanks.
To deliver its highly scalable integrated genomics and clinical data solutions to hospital and industry partners worldwide BC Platforms has partnered with Google Cloud. The cloud brings with it storage, archiving and calculation capacity, as well as Google Cloud genomics and AI tools, including DeepVariant for accurate variant calling on multiple sequencing platforms.
BC Platforms’ technology is capable of processing thousands of genomes per day, produced using either genotype arrays or next generation sequencing. The platform integrating biobanks is highly useful for both the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industries and also healthcare institutions.
